How We Guarantee Quality

Our Quality Process, Step by Step

01

Drawing & Contract Review

Every job starts with an engineering review. We flag ambiguity, tolerance concerns, and manufacturability issues before we cut chips.

02

In-Process Inspection

Dimensional checks during the run. Deviations caught immediately, not at final inspection when it is too late.

03

Final Inspection & Documentation

Full dimensional verification against drawing. Inspection records kept on file. AS9102 First Article reports available.

04

Traceability & Records

Material certs, inspection records, and process documentation retained per AS9100D requirements.

AS9102 FAIR Reports On Request

AS9102 First Article Inspection is a documented record - the deliverable is the signed report showing every dimensional and material characteristic on your drawing has been measured and is on spec, not just the act of measuring. UDM runs the FAIR after the first piece is complete and before any production lot ships, so any drawing-print mismatch is caught and resolved before quantity is at risk.

For aerospace programs that require FAIRs, we deliver complete Forms 1, 2, and 3 with every required measurement signed and traceable, in PDF with part delivery.

  • AS9102 Rev C compliant - Forms 1, 2, and 3 completed
  • Run after the first piece, before any production lot ships
  • Full dimensional balloon with every drawing characteristic measured
  • Inspection sampling tailored to your contract requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

Quality & Certifications FAQ

Are you actually AS9100D certified, or just ISO 9001?

We hold current certifications for both ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D. AS9100D includes ISO 9001 plus aerospace-specific requirements. Certificate copies are available on request.

How long have you been certified?

UDM built its quality system to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D standards from day one, not as an afterthought. We can share certification dates and audit history with approved supplier reviewers.

Do you provide AS9102 First Article Inspection reports?

Yes. We provide full AS9102 Rev C FAIRs on request - Forms 1, 2, and 3, with every drawing characteristic measured and documented. Request FAIR on your quote.

Can you support our approved supplier onboarding process?

Yes. We regularly complete supplier questionnaires, provide certificate packages, and support on-site or virtual audits.

What records do you retain on our parts?

Material certs, inspection records, process documentation, and any FAIRs. Retention periods meet AS9100D and customer contract requirements - typically a minimum of 10 years for aerospace work.

Do you inspect every part or only the first article?

In-process inspection happens during the run. Final inspection happens on every lot. FAIR is documented on the first article. Inspection frequency and sampling can be tailored to your requirements.

What happens if a part is out of tolerance?

We catch it internally before it ships. If an issue is discovered after delivery, we investigate, document, and rework or replace. AS9100D requires formal nonconformance handling - we follow it.

Can you sign our supplier quality agreement?

Yes, in most cases. Send the agreement along with your RFQ and we will review and respond before we quote.

Need a certificate package for your sourcing team?

Request an up-to-date copy of our ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certifications, or ask for a full supplier questionnaire response.
